hey guys so in this video I want to talk about knee pain welcome back this is Aw Boon Wei your exercise physiologists so I guess this is a very common problem people getting knee pain so just trying to keep it simple and listing all the kind of reasons that you can get your knee into trouble right we are not talking about acute knee pain over here alright meaning you got into an accident somebody banging to you you walk down the stairs you slip and then you feel something there all right usually you know that you may have pulled something you may have strained something right so those are actually very easy for you to tell right then what do you do after it okay depending on what is giving you the problem usually if there’s swell you want to ice it okay you want to keep it down so when you see swelling and it’s giving you pain you want to keep the swell down so just remember um four-letter words all right it’s called rice R I C E alright so R as in rest okay so you need enough rest i as in ice okay you need to ice it depending on the area okay for example knee you can ice it for about 10 minutes okay every maybe two three hours C you want to compress so that the swell doesn’t keep forming and E whenever you can you elevate that area okay so that’s how you wanna control swelling and swelling can cause knee pain as well right so there’s more acute usually you will feel this film and the focus over here it’s more chronic more you so acute you know what’s happening right you pulled something chronic usually comes in slowly it developed slowly and then suddenly one day you felt something so you didn’t get gonna any accident but suddenly you are feeling this sensation around the knee and it’s kind of it can be dull achey soreness pain alright really depending on the severity so couple reasons here it really depends on your lifestyle number one okay if you are somebody who does not workout enough okay and then you have this knee problem very highly likely your muscle is quite weak okay and it’s giving you the problem it may lead to commonly what people term as osteoarthritis which is another topic okay it can also cause tendinitis okay so because there’s already some weakness over there your muscles can’t hold on to your weight and there’s more pressure there around the knee okay it can cause pain as well right so it could be after your workout okay so if it’s somebody who is more active okay these are the things that can go wrong okay you never warm up you never do your cooling down stretch okay these two are probably the very main main thing because people just jump into their sports finish it rest and then go back home right there’s no proper warming up there’s no proper cooling down so that’s that’s number one and then you have muscle imbalance okay usually quite hard to tell and it it kind of has to do with your biomechanics because you have been moving in a certain manner you are not balanced okay everything can can be tossed around a little bit okay so this is usually hard to catch it if you’re not a professional and but you may already help for example you are always standing on your left leg or you’re always standing on your right leg you are we standing with your legs externally rotated can be standing with your legs internally rotated okay so here some of the very common reasons why you can get into knee problem alright some things that I’ve shared with is quite general so it can also apply to other joints as well so which we will share later on right in some some other videos so knee pain you really have to think through because these are the questions that the professionals the doctors the physios will ask you if you visit them okay so you want to kind of think through first what have you done what did I you know go through throughout the day when was the last time I felt this thing can I can I repeat this motion to to create the pain again alright so that’s just too many reason you can’t really pinpoint you know until you have a proper check all right so that’s what I want to talk about for knee pain all right so if you have any questions please put any comment section below all right I hope you enjoyed this this video and please take care and I’ll talk to you soon bye bye
